### **Pros of the Autotek SX-777**
1. **High Power Output**
The SX-777 delivers substantial power, typically around **1,000 watts RMS per channel** (at 4 ohms) and **1,500 watts peak**, making it suitable for large speaker setups in buses, trucks, or commercial vehicles. This ensures strong, clear audio even in noisy environments.
2. **Durable and Rugged Build**
Autotek amplifiers are known for their robust construction, designed to withstand harsh conditions such as vibration, heat, and electrical fluctuations. The SX-777 is no exception, featuring a sturdy metal chassis and high-quality components that enhance longevity.
3. **Versatile Input Options**
The amplifier supports multiple input types, including **RCA, XLR, and sometimes digital inputs (like Line In or even Bluetooth in some models)**, allowing flexibility in connecting to various sound sources. This is particularly useful in school buses where multiple devices (e.g., microphones, MP3 players, or intercom systems) may need to be integrated.
4. **Remote Control and Monitoring**
Many Autotek amplifiers, including the SX-777, come with **remote control capabilities**, allowing users to turn the amp on/off, adjust volume, and monitor system status without direct access to the unit. Some models also include **fuse monitoring** and **thermal protection**, which are critical for preventing damage in demanding environments.
5. **Compatibility with School Bus Systems**
The SX-777 is often used in **school bus audio systems** due to its ability to handle high-power demands while integrating with existing intercom or PA systems. It can be paired with **microphone inputs** for announcements, making it ideal for safety and communication purposes.
6. **Easy Installation and Wiring**
Autotek amplifiers are generally straightforward to install, with clear wiring diagrams and terminals that simplify connections. The SX-777 is designed for professional use, so it includes features like **fuse holders, ground lugs, and secure mounting points**, reducing installation errors.
7. **Protection Features**
The amplifier includes **built-in protection circuits**, such as:- **Short circuit protection**
- **Over-voltage protection**
- **Thermal shutdown** (to prevent overheating)
- **Fuse monitoring** (to alert users if a fuse has blown)
These features help extend the lifespan of the amplifier and protect connected components.
8. **Good Brand Reputation**
Autotek is a well-established brand in the car audio and commercial audio industry, known for reliability and performance. While not as premium as brands like **JL Audio or Focal**, Autotek offers a strong balance of quality and affordability for its target market.

### **Cons of the Autotek SX-777**
1. **Limited High-End Audio Performance**
While the SX-777 excels in power and durability, it is not designed for **high-fidelity audio reproduction**. The sound quality may lack the clarity and detail found in consumer-grade amplifiers, which could be a drawback for users who prioritize audio purity over sheer power.
2. **No Digital or Advanced DSP Features**
Unlike some modern amplifiers, the SX-777 does not typically include **digital signal processing (DSP)**, **graphic equalizers**, or **Bluetooth connectivity**. This limits customization options for sound tuning, which could be a downside for users who want more control over their audio setup.
3. **Potential for Noise in Weak Signal Conditions**
Some users report that the SX-777 may produce **hiss or noise** when the input signal is weak or absent. This is common in high-power amplifiers and can be mitigated by using a **signal booster** or ensuring a strong input source.
4. **Size and Weight**
As a high-power amplifier, the SX-777 is **bulky and heavy**, which can make installation challenging in tight spaces. This may require additional mounting considerations, especially in older or retrofitted vehicles.
5. **Limited After-Sales Support**
Autotek s customer support is generally reliable, but it may not be as responsive or comprehensive as that of premium brands. Users in remote areas or those requiring urgent assistance might find support slower compared to larger manufacturers.
6. **Price Relative to Alternatives**
While the SX-777 is competitively priced for its class, some **higher-end commercial amplifiers** (e.g., from **JL Audio, Rockford Fosgate, or Crown**) offer additional features (like DSP or better sound quality) at a similar price point. For audiophiles or those seeking advanced features, other options may be worth considering.
7. **Potential for Distortion at Maximum Power**
At very high power levels (close to the amplifier s maximum output), some users notice **slight distortion or clipping**, especially if the speakers are not properly matched to the amplifier s impedance. This is a common issue with high-wattage amps and can be avoided by ensuring correct wiring and speaker compatibility.
8. **No Built-In Subwoofer Control (in some models)**
Depending on the specific variant of the SX-777, some units may lack **dedicated subwoofer outputs or crossover controls**, which could limit flexibility in bass-heavy systems.
---
### **Conclusion**
The **Autotek SX-777** is a **reliable, high-power amplifier** that excels in **commercial and school bus applications** where durability, power, and ease of integration are prioritized over audio perfection. Its **robust construction, protection features, and versatility** make it a strong choice for environments where audio systems must endure heavy use, vibration, and varying electrical conditions.
However, if **sound quality, advanced features (like DSP or Bluetooth), or customization** are critical, other amplifiers (e.g., from **JL Audio, Rockford Fosgate, or Crown**) may be more suitable. The SX-777 is best suited for users who need **raw power, simplicity, and reliability** without the need for high-end audio tuning.

It will definitely not disappoint. The was mounted one time, ran for a few months, removed and has been in the box until months ago when installed my Fiery. It was loud and clear it a great compliment to my 2 Diamond Audio D915 subs Autotek MX 5000 amps. I never did use the bass knob or cord for it, but those are included.
Its is clean all over and ready to enjoy. It is in amazing condition, its very clean, the chrome end caps and markings are excellent, no rust or corrosion anywhere, it has never been opened, manual, factory box does match decent inner Styrofoam there but rough. It was in my daily and tinnitus getting radical, so I had to pull the system stop competing. I always pack well and ship insured.
There are a few very minor flaws like get close with some reading glasses on the light hitting it just right that may or not show up in pics. The feet are all straight and have never been bent. The badges are perfect. I used it in 2008 on 3 sets of coaxial Infinity Kappas.
Its a beautiful piece. 151.2 db was my best run in a sanctioned competition. I bought this new back in the day. They are very hard to see in person looking.
In the Fiery it was powering highs and a single 5.25 woofer. The pics are untouched, look very closely. Run an entire system with this and be done it.
